Published in 2009, this 64–page volume of the Hampton University Museum’s The International Review of African American Art is dedicated to coverage of various African American art symposia, and the work of Renée Stout, Theaster Gates, Derrick Adams, Tafa Fiadzigbe, and Gilda Snowden.  This issue also spotlights the accomplishments of curator, writer and art critic, Sarah Lewis, video art at the 2010 SITE Santa Fe Biennial, remarks made at the “Fearless Risk Takers, Rule Breakers, and Innovators in African American Art and Art of the African Diaspora” Colloquium and Gala at Howard University,  and trends in the works of young African American artists. Included in this issue are many color and black & white photographs of artists’ works, with very insightful commentaries by highly respected art reviewers.
