Black Art: an International Quarterly, Vol. 2 No. 2 (1978)

$40.00

Published in 1978, this 72–page volume of the Hampton University Museum’s Black Art: an International Quarterly (predecessor to The International Review of African American Art) is dedicated to theatre and performance arts, the fine art of collecting, and the careers of Winston Branch, Nelson Stevens, and Adrienne W. Hoard. In addition, this issue confronts racism in the display and treatment of Tutankhamun and his legacy, presents news of acquisitions by the Museum of the National Center of Afro–American Artists, and reviews The Afro–American Tradition in Decorative Arts exhibition which was on view at the Cleveland Museum of Art between February 1978 and April 1978. Included in this issue are many color and black & white photographs of artists’ works, and very insightful commentaries by highly respected art reviewers.
